Natural facial movements are leaving their mark?

Starting in your late 20s and early 30s the skin’s ability to protect itself begins to decrease. It needs your help to remain smooth and firm. Anti-wrinkle injections are a fast, effective and affordable solution to combat the skin’s ageing process. They have the best results when used as a preventative measure, but can also be used to reduce the severity of existing visible wrinkles.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Wrinkle prevention and repairing injections are a series of small injections of a muscle relaxing solution into individual muscles in your areas of concern (areas containing wrinkles), preventing them from making unnecessary and undesirable facial expressions and further creasing and damaging the skin.

Are wrinkle prevention injections safe?

Yes. They are very safe. The active wrinkle prevention ingredient is a protein that is not absorbed or passed through into the blood and thus is safer than taking virtually all other medicines or even vitamin tablets. This protein isactually used up within the first hour as it binds to and neutralises other proteins within the nerve endings. It is therefore no longer present or active anywhere in our muscles or our body.

They have been used by doctors for more than 30 years on millions of people around the world and it is one of the most studied and researched medical procedures proving to have no long-term side effects.

Common areas that can be treated?

Are they painful?

No. The treatment is a quick and simple procedure that is relatively pain-free. Even those afraid of needles are surprised at the ease of treatment.

Ice is used to numb each spot prior to injection and then an extremely fine needle is used to make minute injections of the wrinkle prevention solution into the targeted muscles. You will experience only brief discomfort so anaesthetic is not needed generally.

Is there any downtime?

No. Recovery is immediate. There may be some redness and faint needle-prick marks that usually disappear within a few minutes. Ladies can reapply make-up immediately.

Rarely, there is slight bruising that will last for a few days, but make-up will easily mask this.

When will I start to see results?

You will start to see results within a few days but it takes 7-14 days to see the full results.Although the wrinkle prevention injections are completely gone within an hour or so, it takes time for the targeted nerve endings to become ‘deactivated’.

The number of days until you start to see a change and also until the final result is achieved, depends on the length of time since your last treatment has worn off. We will advise you each time what you should expect.

We ask you to come back for review in 2 weeks to make sure your results are optimal and that you are satisfied.

Fillers

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers such as are soft, mouldable gels that are injected under the skin to immediately repair and plump up various skin lines, depressions and folds in the skin. They produce instant results and are almost painless.

What happens during the procedure?

They are injected as a simple office procedure, with local anaesthetic already in the filler and only take a few minutes. Recovery is immediate and any temporary skin redness fades quickly.

What do dermal fillers do?

Fillers do three things:

  • Fillers immediately plump up and add volume to creases, depressions, folds, and scars or flatten age lines in many areas of the face.
  • Fillers stimulate collagen. Additional firming, plumping and replacement of the previously lost tissue occurs because of the stimulation Dermal Fillers have on the body’s own collagen production. They are made of natural skin products and stay in position for a long time, becoming part of the natural skin structure.
  • Fillers act as a cushioning pad at the base of the previous fold or wrinkle that you have corrected. This therefore prevents the future deepening of these folds from repeated muscle action, such as smiling and frowning. The skin is unable to crease as sharply as it did before treatment.

As a result of these three factors, repeated maintenance injections of these dermal fillers in the folds of the skin can be gradually layered or added to a foundation of a build-up of new skin. These areas gradually repair and thus prevent future ageing with less frequent maintenance top-ups required.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Yes. All of our dermal fillers are completely safe and allergic reactions to these substances are extremely rare. There is no risk of the gel separating from your tissue in the area injected and as long as the correct aftercare recommendations are followed you won’t have any problems at all.

Which areas can be treated?

Dermal fillers can be injected anywhere where volume is required to fill in or plump up a fold, a sagging structural feature or a fine line, wrinkle or depression or to lift and replace ageing features.

Most common sites for dermal filler injections are:

  • Frown lines, grooves and folds around the mouth, the smile lines and the jowling lines, and the tear trough hollows under the eyes.
  • Lips
  • Forehead and temple
  • Cheekbones and chin in the case of a recessed chin.
  • Nose – alter the shape of your nose.
  • Jawline – achieve a more youthful structure to or create a more angular, lifted and filled jawline.
  • Surgical scars or indented post-acne scars on the face or anywhere on the body.

How long does a dermal filler treatment take? Are they painful?

No. The actual injection time is approximately a minute and so is over very quickly. The fillers all have a very quick acting and strong local anaesthetic mixed in with the gel.

The local anaesthetic is just in the line that the filler is injected into and remains numb for 20 minutes or so. Thus procedures are quick, comfortable and there is no pain afterwards or even after the local anaesthetic wears off. The area can be tender to touch but even this settles down after a few days.

Is there any downtime?

In most cases people can return to their normal daily activities straight away, although often a camouflage powder is required to mask minor temporary redness. Bruising can occur but this can be minimised with careful attention to detail and post-treatment pressure on the needling points.

Swelling is apparent for a few hours but is usually not a discomfort. It settles relatively quickly depending on the site of the injection, the skin type of the client and the amount of product injected.

The only procedure that is usually done after work allowing more time for the swelling to reduce is a lip enhancement.

What is PRP and how does it work ?

PRP has become a highly sought-after non-surgical procedure for facial and skin rejuvenation. PRP therapy is a treatment which uses your own blood platelets to stimulate new cell growth, helping to improve your complexion, skin texture and to restore lost facial volume.

Your blood is essentially made up of four components; red blood cells, white blood cells, the plasma and the platelets. We take your blood and spin it in a centrifuge, which enables the separation of the blood cells from your plasma and platelets. This is then re-injected into the skin to stimulate collagen and new skin cells. PRP harnesses the beneficial functions of the patients own platelets and therefore there is no risk of allergy or rejection of the treatment.

PRP can also be successfully used to treat thinning hair and hairloss particularly male pattern baldness.

It is important to start treatment early on and whether you are a suitable candidate or not would be decided during theconsultation.

What is the procedure?

Depending on how many areas you want to get treated, a volume of blood will be taken. This is usually between 10 to 30 ml. Your blood is then placed in a centifuge for around 8-10 minutes. Once your cells have separated, the rich platelets are extracted and injected into the skin where rejuvenation is requested.

What should you expect post treatment?

Most people will experience some mild to moderate swelling in the area of treatment, redness or heat, which are all common side effects and are part of the activation of your platelets. Because a volume of fluid has to be administered, swelling is inevitable. Bruising can occur and may take several days to disappear.

How soon will I see results?

Most patients will require multiple treatment sessions at four to six week intervals. The first thing people notice is an improvement in skin turgor and elasticity. Collagen production can take up to three months to occur and the results can differ depending on the individual. Because the injected product is 100% your own, factors such as smoking, stress and illness can effect results. A series of three treatments can yield results for up to two years.
